A quick, engaging refresher for calculating the charge of an atom represented as qnet. The player matches a target value by adding or subtracting electrons from a spinning atom. Play is scaffolded with an example first, then students are given 6 trials. They explore summing negative charges (electrons) and positive charges (protons), with real-time feedback.

Features + Learning Goals
Students will learn:
  • ·    The qnet of a single atom
  • ·    Protons are positive
  • ·    Electrons are negative
  • ·    The effects of adding and deleting multiple electrons
  • ·    The sum of the electrons and protons results in the charge of a single atom
